REVIEWS (selected)
"Delightfully wacky, the young woman of Susan Webb Tregay's Risk Being Sorry (2011) rides her bike through a puddle, shooting up curling jets of water. Originally titled Before the Age of Anxiety, the work uses visual humor to protest the overly protective lives of children these days. Tregay remembers her own youth when she and her friends deliberately ran their bikes over a pot hole covered with water, thrilling at the unknown: will we hit it or not? She chooses a wacky, off-beat style to convey the exuberance of a child's daring.
Dorothy Joiner, Professor of Art History at La Grange College, for Watercolor USA, June 2011

"Susan Webb Tregay's piece titled "Us" is comprised of a hollowed book to which has been added an open brass safe door. Inside are ... slightly schmaltzy mementos. The book's title, "By Love Possessed," seems to echo the artist's sentiments in what just might be the world's first funk-art valentine."
Bruce Adams, The Buffalo News, 1/31/03

"Susan Webb Tregay's abstractions suggest a freeze-frame of complicated thoughts and feelings--a "diary".... Richard Huntington, Buffalo News, 8/4/00

"Susan Webb Tregay, working in a combination of media, has a command of modernist vocabulary..." Richard Huntington, Buffalo News, 6/7/98
"From the comic relief department, a certain naive wackiness rears its head on occasion, as in Susan Webb Tregay's "Land of Opportunity," an image of a U.S. map full of childlike houses and the block-printed script "WHERE ANY BOY CAN GROW UP TO BE PRESIDENT."
Josef Woodard, Los Angles Times, 5/2/1996
"One particularly clever piece by New York artist Susan Webb Tregay received the Puget Sound Award. "If You Don't Behave I'll Send You to Father Baker's" uses dark purple and brown to create streets of working-class houses in the shadow of a rather mysterious white cathedral. Tregay's juxtaposition of colors gives imaginative viewers comical or even sinister ideas about a parent's threat to a naughty child."
Suzanne Munson, The Seattle Times, 1993
